How it works

  1. The person verifies once. They check a government ID with a selfie, and each ID document can back only one AgentBacker account.
  2. They sign the liability clause. In plain words, they accept responsibility for what their agents do under the pass until it's revoked. The clause wording is still under legal review.
  3. Their agent asks for a pass. When the agent meets a vendor that accepts AgentBacker, it shows the person a code and a link. The person approves, and the agent never approves for them.
  4. The vendor checks the pass. The pass is tied to a key held by that agent and lasts 24 hours. The vendor sees a private ID that's fixed for this person at this vendor and different at every other vendor.
  5. The name, when needed. By default the vendor gets the verified name at sign-up. A vendor can switch that off, but it always gets the name once a card is added.
  6. Revocation. A pass can be revoked at any time. Vendors can check its status and get a webhook when that happens.
  7. Disputes. If something goes wrong, the vendor can request a signed dispute packet that it can check offline.
